Alex Ridha, the Berlin-based producer and legend, has announced the forthcoming release of his third studio album, Out of the Black. Boys Noize has established himself as a producer that is passionate about making music that embodies the sound and culture that influenced him as a young producer. Ridha is at the forefront of forward thinking productions. Ridha and his label, Boys Noize Records, have developed an almost cult following. He rejects any notion of moving towards the mainstream, a direction that many electronic music producers have decided to pursue. Rather, Ridha remains loyal to his style and to his fans.
Ridha has developed a culture, a scene, and a thriving niche within a musical genre that seems to be slipping away from its roots at a shocking pace. Alongside the announcement of the new album and release date (October 2nd), Ridha has premiered a preview of the frist track of the LP. “What You Want” maintains the Boys Noize style while delving into an exploration of modern sound design. The new album sounds like a breath of fresh air among the growing pile of nonsense that modern electronic music has unfortunately graced us with.
“This particular track was inspired by the vibes I get from the Beastie Boys, for instance,” Ridha told Rolling Stone. “Their Licensed to Ill album is one of my all-time favorite records, and to me ‘What You Want’ has some sort of B-boy style mixed with my obsession on robot vocals and modern sound aesthetics. This song combines a lot of things I love about electronic music.”
Thank you Boys Noize, you remain a pillar of true talent in today’s EDM pop culture.
You can preview a part of the track here or you can head over to Rolling Stone and listen to the track in its entirety (I recommend the latter).
