Summer Meltdown Lowdown: EOTO Well ladies and gentlemen, if you haven’t noticed by this point, this is the summer of the music festival and we here at the West Coast Leak are doing our best to take full advantage of this wondrous occasion. Today I’d like to tell you a bit about this festival in Washington called Summer Meltdown which is taking place from August 10-12 in Darrington, Washington at the Whitehorse Mountain Amphitheater. This year celebrates the 12th annual Summer Meltdown Festival and this year they are bringing a wide array of artists from many different genres to help with the celebration. One of the big names headlining the festival this year is none other than the live, improvisational dubstep duo, EOTO. EOTO is composed of two very talented and seasoned musicians, Jason Hann and Michael Travis who also make up two of the six members of the esteemed jam band, The String Cheese Incident. What sets EOTO apart from other dubstep acts is that as opposed to mixing songs together like most dubstep producer/DJs do, they play their entire sets live. Their live sets consist of a mixture of live beats, sounds and samples that are put together in a improvisational fashion to create a truly unique dubstep experience. No two EOTO shows are ever the same. I recently saw EOTO preform for the first time at Electric Forest Festival in Rothbury, Michigan. The energy and intensity that Jason and Michael brought to their set was immense, and at the end they had the crowd begging for more. EOTO has also recently revamped their live set up, in which now they play within the confines of a massive lotus flower on stage. Its quite the spectacle, and definitely worth seeing if you get the chance. Below is a video from their latest tour so you can get a quick glimpse of the awesomeness that is and EOTO live set.
