The North West just seems to be a breeding ground for amazing music. It’s home to some of the America’s most prominent bands like Nirvana, The Decemberists and The Shins as well as many of the up and coming band of tomorrow. Today I’d like to tell you about a local Eugene band by the name of Medium Troy. Since 2006 Medium Troy has been part of the North West music scene, playing shows up and down the coast at various venues, including both festivals and concert halls. This year, Medium Troy will be playing Saturday of Summer Meltdown, and their set is sure to be one of the highlights of the weekend. Medium Troy is composed of six members who play your standard guitar, bass, keyboard and drums, but what sets them apart is their sixth member of the band who runs the effects as well as the live scratching. This element adds an entirely new creative aspect to their music, that really sets them apart from most other bands. To classify Medium Troy’s genre is near impossible so I will used the self-appointed genre of “Bohemian Dub” that Medium Troy has given their music. I recently had the pleasure of seeing Medium Troy preform live and they were nothing short of amazing. The audience was only about 100 people max, but they threw down full force none the less. If you’re headed up to Summer Meltdown definitely go see Medium Troy. You’ll regret it if you don’t. Below is some of their music for you all to check out. Check it below and enjoy listening.
